Your room will have all of the basic equipment. This includes a bed, desk, chair, desk lamp, storage and bin. Fridges, freezers, cookers and food storage cupboards are available in all of the kitchens. Below is a list of what you’ll need to bring with you when you move-in (in addition to your personal belongings and yourself!):
- Bedding (including pillows, sheets and duvet)
- Cutlery, crockery and saucepans (the canteen isn’t open on Saturday evening and Sunday so you may need to do some cooking!)
If you’re travelling a long way to live in Alban, you might want to pre-order these essential items. They can be purchased through UniKitOut who offer a 10% discount to Imperial students. Otherwise, there is an Argos on Kensington High Street that will have much of what you need and its likely we’ll be joining with Pembridge Gardens on their annual Ikea trip.
Please do not bring any electrical cooking equipment such as rice cookers, microwaves, deep fat fryers, kettles, toasters, fridge, etc. These are prohibited in the accommodation license and no cooking equipment is allowed in bedrooms. If you are diabetic and require a fridge in your room please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading “Refrigerator”, and include your CID number. For more information, check out Imperial’s own accommodation page.
