Abigail Ackerman

Warden Abi is one of the Wardens at Woodward, living with her partner Luke. She is a Research Associate in the Department of Materials, working on corrosion of metals. This mainly involves building corrosive atmosphere environments, breaking bits of metal and trying not to accidentally burn down or blow up the RSM. She has previously lived in Germany and Cyprus, and came to Imperial 6 years ago at the start of her PhD. You can usually find her either on or near a stage enjoying or performing musical theatre, baking, or spray painting furniture in an effort to upcycle because she saw a YouTube tutorial and it looked super easy. Abi can’t wait to meet everyone!

Victor Pedrosa

Warden Hi, I am Victor, one of the Wardens of Woodward Buildings. I live in block C with my lovely wife Maria. I am just finishing my PhD and starting as a Research Associate at the Department of Bioengineering. I work with computational neuroscience, trying to understand how our brain works. I am particularly interested in the brain’s unique ability to learn and form new memories. I am from Brazil, where I got my degree in chemistry and my masters in physics. In my free time, I like to run in the park, cook and sculpt! I look forward to meeting all of you!

Matthew Bidwell

Assistant Warden Matt is the Assistant Warden of Woodward Buildings, living with his partner Iuliana in B block. He is a Research Assistant at Imperial, currently finishing off his PhD before starting a Research Fellowship in the Department of Chemistry. His work involves designing and synthesising new materials for organic solar cells and solar fuels, helping to develop new renewable energy technologies to fight against climate change. He is from both Pennsylvania, USA and Surrey in the UK so has a uniquely Mid-Atlantic accent (often mistaken for many other nationalities!). He has previously worked in Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Southampton and is looking for future jobs in more places starting with S. He joined Imperial College is an undergraduate student 10 years ago so can answers most questions you have about the College! Sanziana Foia

B block subwarden Hey I’m Sânziana! I’m from Romania, but I lived in London for the better part of the last 7 years, and a little bit in LA, Rome and Munich too. I’ve been at Imperial for my undergrad in Chemistry and currently I’m in the second year of my PhD in Bioengineering. My research focuses on developing a microneedle biosensor for the detection and continuous monitoring of antimalarial combination therapy. In my spare time I enjoy running, exercising and I’m an enthusiastic member of the Pole and Aerial society! I’m also interested in communications and social media and right now I’m Imperial’s Tiktok creator. So if you want to have a chat, go on a run or do a silly dance trend, ✨respectfully✨ hit me up! Looking forward to seeing you all around the hall 🙂

Naima Adan

B block subwarden Hello, I’m Naima! I am from Somali, but lived in the fine cities of Nairobi, Oslo and Birmingham. I’m based in the bioengineering department with a background in biomedical sciences. My research primarily focuses on studying the non-canonical regulation of hypoxia inducible factor-1a. My main passion in life is to hunt for independent coffee shops. Besides coffee, I also enjoy photography, roller-skating (badly), travelling and watching stand-up comedy shows. I am an avid lover of exploring new cuisines. Can’t wait to meet you all, and welcome you to Woodward 🙂

Nayana Iyer

Outside of my PhD, I enjoy dancing, going to stand-up comedy shows, and finding long walks to go on. I also usually have a knitting project on the go and am slightly obsessed with houseplants. I’m really excited to meet you all, and am happy to have a chat about anything or give you some advice about living in London/university life if ever you need 🙂

Meet the Hall Seniors

Seniors are very friendly undergraduate students who have already experienced the Freshers’ year and have plenty of tips to share with those just settling in their uni life. They are the chosen ones who will carry out various roles to fuel the Hall’s social scene, from organising sports days to helping to set up parties, tower challenges and more chilled movie nights. Below you can find the hall senior team of 2021-2022!
