Moving In

Pre-arrival information

Check our What to Bring to Halls page. It give an useful advice on what to bring with you, what not to bring, and what to get once you arrive. Taking a toothbrush and a charger for your laptop and mobile phone is a safe bet.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to accept deliveries or post on your behalf prior to your arrival. Please do not have anything (Oyster cards, bank accounts, etc etc …) sent to Wilkinson before Move-In Saturday. Any post will very likely be returned to sender.

It is also unfortunately not possible to enter/look around Wilkinson prior to Move-in day as it is being used by summer guests.

Move-In Day – What to Expect

10am – 4pm on Saturday 30 September 2017
Wilkinson Hall, Princes Gardens, London SW7 1AW

Your room allocation – which is not handled by the Wardens, but by the Accommodation Office – will not vary depending on when you arrive. Please do ideally arrive in the time window indicated. However, should you arrive late, please inform us as soon as possible or else your room may be reallocated to another student.

Once you arrive at Wilkinson:

  • we will check that you have registered
  • we will issue the keys to your room
  • we will give you your College ID card (if you have registered on time)
  • you will be able to go to your room – a group of fantastic volunteers will also be here to help on the day

If you are driving in with family or friends, you will be able to park for a short while (up to 20 minutes) for offloading in the front of Wilkinson. After that, we will be able to provide you with a pass to use Imperial College parking approximately 5 minutes from the Hall.

While you are settling in and making your room feel like home we will have tea and coffee for your parents (and some tissues too, if necessary) to relax and take a break before they say goodbye.

After everyone is all moved in we will have a compulsory welcome talk, this is an opportunity to meet the team and let you know important information about living at Wilkinson.

We are then planning to cook together and have floor parties so you can get to know your flatmates. We’ll then finish the evening in the Common Room together with all floors so you can mingle with the rest of Wilkinson!

What Next?

There will be numerous events organised by your Hall Seniors and Wardens, and some by your Department, and many by the Union and various societies over the next fortnight. Make sure you join the Wilkinson 2017 Facebook group and chat with your Hall Seniors to keep up-to-date!

College won’t start until the Monday after Move-In day.
